Still Life

by Charlotte Culot

A still life painting by Charlotte Culot provides the starting point for this work, a composition built almost entirely through texture and layers of white and natural tones rather than colour or line. Surface and relief carry the image, with subtle variations creating depth across the restrained palette. Translated into textile, the painterly language of the original composition becomes a tactile experience, transforming texture from something seen into something that can also be felt. This piece introduces a new dimension of Culot’s practice through the medium of textile.
